SHAH ALAM: Iskandar Exclusive Sdn Bhd, which produces aromatherapy essential oils under its brand, ‘Eartheories’, is urging for more youths to be involved in the essential oil business, especially in supplying raw materials.
Co-founder Fazli Subari said the company had started producing aromatherapy essential oils in 2019, and is currently in need of suppliers for lemongrass, one of the main ingredients used to make essential oils.
“We need lemongrass in large quantities, as every 25 kilogrammes of lemongrass can only produce 65ml of essential oil,” he told Bernama.
Fazli said for the time being, the company obtains its supply from farmers around Selangor, adding that the company also cultivates lemongrass on 1.2-hectare land in Kuala Selangor and Hulu Langat.
The company is capable of producing three litres of essential oil from two to three tonnes of lemongrass.
Fadzli, who is also Iskandar Exclusive’s business development director, said youths should take the opportunity to become modern farmers to supply raw materials to the industry.
“We want to invite more youths to work together with us to cultivate the plants and turn it into a community project,” he said.
He went on to say that the essential oil industry has great potential to be developed in the country as there are not many entrepreneurs in the field.
“We have a lot of materials and resources but not many are essential oil entrepreneurs.
“This is because not all of them have the expertise, and the industry requires a significant supply of raw materials,” he said.
Fadzli said that apart from producing aromatherapy essential oils, his company also produces homemade personal care products such as bath, skin and hair care sets, as well as perfumes that have passed chemical and clinical laboratory tests.
The company has an Eartheories physical store at the Publika shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur, and plans to open a store in Bukit Bintang and Penang in October this year. – Bernama
