KUCHING: Police issued 21 compounds to errant individuals for failing to comply with the conditional movement control order (CMCO) standard operating procedures (SOPs) on Saturday (May 15).
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said Serian recorded the most compounds with 10, followed by Kuching (four), Mukah (three), Bintulu (three) and Padawan (one).
“The violations included participating in a cockfighting session (10); not practising physical distancing (four); not wearing face masks (three); failing to provide a reasonable excuse for being out from home (two); violating additional SOPs in Bintulu zone for fishing (one); and failing to update the customer logbook (one).
“This brings the total amount of compounds issued since Mar 18 last year to 6,545,” the committee said.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Local Government and Housing has issued 20 compounds to business operators of premises under the supervision of various local councils.
Miri City Council recorded the highest compounds with 10; followed by two each under Kuching South City Council (MBKS), Padawan Municipal Council, Sibu Rural District Council and Kapit District Council; and one each under Serian District Council and Betong District Council.
SDMC added that the businesses were violating SOPs such as operating past the allowed time (six); failing to update the customer logbooks (four); failing to enforce wearing face masks (three); failing to scan the MySejahtera (two); allowing customers to dine-in (two); having a non-functional temperature scanner (one); failing to scan customers’ temperature (one); and operating without permission (one).
These brought total amount of compounds issued by local authorities since Feb 1 this year to 518.
