KUCHING: Sarawak recorded seven new Covid-19 deaths yesterday, bringing the death toll to 237.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the 231st death (Case 36,784) involved a 78-year-old local man who was found unconscious at his home at Bukit Mabong on May 10.  He was later proclaimed dead by a medical team.

The man’s remains were brought to the Kapit Hospital by the forensic team and his swab test was positive for the Covid-19 on May 11. He had high blood pressure and stroke.

The 232nd death (Case 34,942) involved a 79-year-old local man who sought treatment at the Sarikei Hospital after experiencing breathing difficulties and fever a day earlier. He tested positive on May 8 before passing away on May 16. The man had diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, gout and dyslipidaemia.

Case 32,406 involved a 66-year-old man and was the state’s 233rd death. He was treated at the Sarikei Hospital after having fever, cough and flu. He tested positive for Covid-19 on May 1 and passed away on May 18. He had high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease.

An 89-year-old local man was the state’s 234th death (Case 37,463). He was referred to the Sarikei Hospital by a health clinic after experiencing cough, loss of appetite and difficulty in breathing a few days earlier. He tested positive for Covid-19 on May 13 and died on May 18. He had chronic obstructive lung disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and dyslipidaemia.

The state’s 235th death involved a 90-year-old local woman (Case 36,621) who sought treatment at Sarikei Hospital for breathing difficulties. She had fever for five days and difficulty in breathing for three days. She tested positive on May 12 and passed away on May 18. The woman had diabetes and high blood pressure.

Case 37,034 (the state’s 236th death) was a 43-year-old local man who was treated at the Sibu Hospital after experiencing difficulty in breathing. He had fever, cough and diarrhoea two days earlier. His swab test result returned positive on May 12 and he passed away on May 18. The man was obese.

A 56-year-old local woman (Case 37,572) was the 237th death. She was treated at Sibu Hospital for breathing difficulties. She tested positive for Covid-19 on May 13 and died on May 19. The woman had high blood pressure and diabetes.
