Teens arrested for alleged motorcycle theft

MIRI: Four teenagers, who were allegedly involved in the theft of a motorcycle belonging to a technician in Jalan Rice Mill here on Monday, were arrested in an operation codename Ops Lejang/Ops Aidilfitri.

The arrest was made in less than 24 hours after the motorcycle’s owner lodged a police report on the missing vehicle.

The suspects aged 15 to 17 were picked up by a team from the Miri Criminal Investigation department (CID) at three separate locations.

The first was detained adjacent to the motorcycle’s owner rented room at Jalan Rice Mill, the second suspect at an unnumbered house at Kampung Haji Wahed  and the remaining two at Jalan Chia Tze Chin.

The operation was held from 11.15pm to 11.45pm.

According to Miri police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari, the case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code.
