KOTA SAMARAHAN: Rescuers have recovered the body of a croc-attack victim in a river at Kampung Naie Lama, here this afternoon (May 27), some 26 hours after the incident.

State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre said the body of Allistar Rabanie, 30, was discovered at 1.58pm about one kilometre away from the search and rescue (SAR) operation’s control post.

“The SAR team used a gripping iron to pick up the victim’s body located in the middle of the river, which is about 1km from the control post.

“The body was handed over to the police for further action,” it said in a statement.

On Wednesday, the victim, together with his father and uncle went fishing at a nearby river at 10:30am.

While fishing, the victim’s net got stuck underwater and he proceeded to dive into the river to release the net but disappeared after he was attacked by a crocodile.

The incident was noticed by the victim’s father who was only a few metres away.
