MIRI: The traffic situation at the Pujut Section of the Pan Borneo Highway has been smooth and comfortable for road users since is opening in February.
The 16-kilometre section is one of three sections constructed under the Work Package Contract 11 (WPC11) since it began construction in 2016.
The other two sections, the Beluru Section and Lambir Section, are still under construction, said the Public Works Department in a statement today (May 29).
The work scope of the Pujut Section will have two flyovers — the Miri Airport flyover and the Pujut Link flyover, including two bridges, Sungai Adong and Sungai Miri bridges.
“The high traffic rate based on the alignment location located near the city is the main challenge in keeping construction work going smoothly.
“The work will not neglect the comfort as well as safety of road users at the same time,” said Ir Siaw Ming Chian, zone manager for state JKR Pan Borneo Highway (Northern),
Besides that, construction works near the airport are complying with the guidelines and rules set by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM).
This will allow works to place the beams and the pilings to be conducted during night time.
“As the construction works intensified, JKR Sarawak reminds the public to drive safely and obey the speed limit. All difficulties and inconveniences are greatly regretted.”
