KUCHING: Police here fired two shots at a man after he ran amok with a machete near a house at Lorong Arawana 1, Jalan Bako yesterday (May 31).
Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail, who confirmed the incident, said the suspect in his 30s was shot in both legs.
It was understood that the suspect, with a machete in hand, had randomly attacked the public as well as a mobile patrol unit in the area.
“The patrol unit subsequently fired gunshots and hit the suspect’s legs.
“The suspect is now in stable condition and was taken to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH),” he said.
Aidi stated that the incident is still under police investigation.
