KUCHING: Sarawak recorded six new Covid-19 deaths today (June 3), bringing the death toll to 311.
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the 306th death was case 47,531, a 66-year-old local woman who received treatment at Kapit Hospital due to shortness of breath.
“The case started to experience symptoms of coughing, body fatigue and breathing difficulties two days prior. She was confirmed positive on May 30 through the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (rT-PCR) screening test and Rapid Test Kit Antigen (RTK-Antigen).
“Her health condition deteriorated and she passed away on May 31. The case had leukaemia, heart disease and high blood pressure,” SDMC said today (June 3).
The 307th death was case 40,079, a 60-year-old local man who was referred to Sibu Hospital from a private hospital when his RTK-Antigen test on May 18 returned positive.
The committee said the case started experiencing symptoms such as cough and breathing difficulties three days prior, adding that a his swab taken at Sibu Hospital for rT-PCR testing had also returned positive.
“The case’s health condition further declined and he passed away on June 2. The case had high blood pressure, diabetes, and dyslipidaemia,” it said.
As for the 308th death, SDMC said this was case 45,578, a 44-year-old local man who received treatment at Sarikei Hospital as he was experiencing shortness of breath.
“A rapid molecular swab test carried out on May 28 was found to be positive. The case’s health deteriorated and he passed away on June 2. The case had diabetes,” it said.
The 309th death was case 47,220, a 62-year-old local woman who received treatment at Sibu Hospital after experiencing shortness of breath.
The committee said she started experiencing Covid-19 symptoms such as cough and fever four days prior, adding that the symptoms had worsened two days after, whereby the case had breathing difficulties and experiencing fatigue.
“Her rT-PCR and RTK-Antigen tests on May 30 returned positive. The case’s health condition declined further and she passed away on June 3. The case had high blood pressure, dyslipidaemia and heart disease,” it said.
Meanwhile, the 310th death was case 48,468, a local woman, aged 65 years old, who was treated at Sarikei Hospital due to fatigue. SDMC added that the case had begun to experience symptoms of fever and loss of appetite the week prior.
“Her rT-PCR and RTK-Antigen tests on May 31 were found positive. The case’s health condition deteriorated and she passed away on June 3,” said SDMC, adding that the case also had high blood pressure, diabetes and chronic kidney disease.
It said the 311th death was case 45,997, a local woman, aged 68 years old, who was treated at Miri Hospital as she had breathing difficulties.
“The case started to experience symptoms of flu and sore throat three days prior. A rapid molecular swab test taken on May 29 returned positive,” it said.
The committee said the case’s health deteriorated further before she passed away on June 3, adding that she had dyslipidaemia.
