KUCHING: The Sarawak Building and Civil Engineering Contractors Association (SBCECA) is urging the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) to provide clarification about the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for construction industry players.
SBCECA chairman James Ha said construction industry players were confused as to which SOPs to follow legally during the movement control order (MCO).
He pointed out that clarification would allow all stakeholders, and enforcement officers, to be on the same channel concerning the MCO.
“We would like to highlight the great difficulties faced by our members and all contractors involved in the construction sector. An urgent clarification from SDMC is sought immediately.
“As the MCO has been implemented and is effective June 1 for 14 days, by both the federal and state governments, we are confused as to which SOPs ─ the National Security Council (MKN) SOPs or Sarawak SOPs ─ to follow legally.
“We feel that SDMC needs to determine this,” he said in a statement on Thursday.
