KOTA SAMARAHAN: A teenager who wanted to do a speed test on his motorcycle with his two friends at Jalan Kampung Baru had their plan cut short.

They were detained by police in an operation codenamed Ops Samseng Jalanan, yesterday (June 6).

District police chief DSP Sudirman Kram said the 18-year-old suspect was arrested at 1.45am.

Police spotted the suspect and two of his friends who appeared eager to test out the speed of their vehicles.

“Upon realising the presence of traffic policemen, the suspect’s friends immediately fled the scene.

“The suspect, however, did not have time to escape and was detained,” he said.

Sudirman said the suspect’s motorcycle was confiscated under Section 63 of the Road Transport Act 1986.

In addition, the suspect was given four traffic summonses for various offences, including illegal medication of his motorcycle.

The boy was also compounded under Regulation 17 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations 2021 for violating curfew which was in force from 10pm to 5am.
