KUCHING: Second-year Multimedia Design students from Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak produced public service announcements (PSAs) which will be aired on TVS.
TVS stated that the PSAs were part of the students’ assignment for motion graphic animation contents.
It also said that the project was in collaboration with Creative Heritage Innovation Centre (CHIC) under Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) as the community partner and TVS as the media partner as well as airing platform.
“In an effort to create engaging content, these students merged skills and technology to tackle issues and problem-solving through awareness videos on their selected topic of interest. The topic ranges from health to local destinations.
“Each PSA was created to give out a positive impact on the community that ends with a call to action and lined with heartening storytelling. There is also a related website that directs viewers who require more information,” it said in a statement yesterday (June 8).
Meanwhile, lecturer Samuel Yee expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to collaborate.
“We are thankful for the opportunity to collaborate with Sarawak Media Group (SMG) who shared the industry feedback and insights to the students. They have also provided the platform for the students to share their content to a wider audience on TVS.
“The students have certainly learnt a lot from this experience and will continue to grow as motion designers,” he said.
TVS chief executive officer Suhaimi Sulaiman stated that he is proud of the collaboration and hopes to develop the content industry into a serious player in the Southeast Asia region together.
“As a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between SMG and Swinburne earlier this year for various collaborations, be sure to expect more joint efforts to develop creative contents for distribution platforms operated by us,” he said.
