PADAWAN: Households totalling 10, 070 in the Mambong constituency will receive food aid under the Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance (BKSS) 6.0 package.
“Distribution will be easy now thanks to road access to every village. Volunteers are also helping with the sorting and packaging,” said Mambong assemblyman Datuk Dr Jerip Susil.
He visited the Padawan Sub-District Office, where the food supplies were packed, on Wednesday (June 9).
“We also have volunteers using their own lorries and four-wheel-drive vehicles to distribute food.
“Villagers need not go out from their homes to pick up the supplies…let the village chiefs and village committees distribute to each house.”
He added that should there be villagers inadvertently left out from the list, they need to inform the state administrative officer immediately.
He said if the movement control order was extended, discussions would be held with the Chief Minister for additional supplies. “As for now, this is what we will give to the people.”
Dr Jerip said the inclusion of volunteers had sped up distribution. “According to guidelines, usually it’s the frontline agencies that will help to distribute the supplies.”
He added: “Nevertheless, we do not want to waste more time waiting, and with the volunteers’ help, the villagers do not have to wait long (for aid).”
