SERIAN: A total of 4,972 households in Siburan will receive the Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance Package 6.0 (BKSS 6.0) food baskets.
Mambong assemblyman Datuk Dr Jerip Susil today handed over the food baskets to three Chinese community leaders who represented the households in their respective areas.
The handover ceremony was done at the Chee Ho Khor Organisation Association Hall.
“For today, the BKSS 6.0 food baskets will be given to 1,947 households from the Chinese community in Siburan and will be distributed to each household.
“For the Bidayuh, the Malay and other communities in the area, food baskets will be given to them in the second phase of the food distribution,” he added.
Apart from that, ten representatives of village committees, associations and organisations have received the minor rural projects (MRP) cheques worth a total of RM130,800; the money will be used to hold activities and for other purposes.
The Transport Assistant Minister also stated that with the extension of the movement control order (MCO) until June 28, there was no response from the disaster committee yet on whether there would be additional food supplies.
“So far, we have not heard anything from the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), but we will distribute the food baskets that we have to the communities first.
“We will wait for the committee and the chief minister for the next step,” he said.
Also present at the handover ceremony was SUPP Mambong chairwoman Datin Jennifer Alice Chee Moinie.
