KUCHING: The State Health Department has declared three new clusters from the Sri Aman and Bintulu divisions.

A community cluster, Gran Stumbin Cluster, in Sri Aman involved a longhouse in Gran Stumbin in Tanjung Bijat.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), today (June 16), said the cluster was caused by social activities and close contacts among residents in the area.

“Further investigation found that there was a funeral ceremony at the longhouse on June 6,” it said.

It added that out of 620 individuals, 82 including the index case tested positive for Covid-19, while 124 were negative and another 414 are still waiting for their results.

All positive cases have been admitted to Sarawak General Hospital, Sri Aman Hospital and Covid-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) in Sri Aman for isolation and treatment.

“There has been one death involving this cluster,” said SDMC.

In Bintulu, the Jalan Tanjung Kidurong 3 Cluster is a workplace cluster involving workers living in quarters of a transport agency at Jalan Kidurong.
