KUCHING: A search and rescue (SAR) operations for a man reported missing while foraging the forest near Nanga Lijan, Bintangor  was called off today after rescuers found no new clue to help locate the victim.

The State Fire and Rescue Department operations centre said the SAR team, together with the local tuai rumah and the victim’s family members had agreed to end the SAR operations which entered its seventh day today. The operation was called off at 4.30pm.

“The longhouse would inform the authorities if there are any new clues or if the victim is found,” it said in a statement.

The operations centre said the seventh day of SAR operation was carried out by two separate teams.

“Team one consists of longhouse residents searching in the foothills of Bukit Tugong and its surroundings within an estimated radius of 1km from the hill.

“Team two consists of various agencies conducting the search in the rubber and pepper plantation area adjacent to the location of team one, also within an estimated radius of 1km and along the road and shoulder of the road to the rubber and pepper plantation area above and at the foot of the hill.

“Search efforts still failed to find any signs or clues or even the victim himself,” it added.
