KUCHING: Members of the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) who are stationed at hotels used as quarantine centres here received hand sanitisers and medical face masks from Hope Place Kuching recently.

The charitable non-governmental organisation (NGO) said the small but meaningful contribution was to help ease the burden faced by Rela members.

“Rela members who are stationed at eight hotels here were given eight boxes of one-litre bottle of hand sanitisers and 80 boxes of face masks.

“They were supposed to be under the care of the Ministry of Health (MoH), but since the start of the mass vaccination programme recently, all the MoH personnels were transferred to vaccination centres.

“Knowing that MoH has its hands full with the vaccination programme, we decided to give a small contribution to help ease everyone’s burden,” Hope Place said in a statement today (June 17).

The NGO also thanked the Malaysian Red Crescent Society Kuching Chapter for sponsoring the hand sanitisers.
