MIRI: The Miri Health Department will investigate allegations of them denying vaccination to farmers without the citizenship documents.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said he had contacted Miri divisional health officer Dr Raviwharmman Packierisamy to clarify the allegation reported in a news portal yesterday (June 18).
“Dr Ravi denied the allegation that the farmers were turned away from receiving the vaccine in the interiors of the Baram district.
“He said that the department has its own protocol when it comes to dealing with those without citizenship documents.
“Nonetheless, he will carry out an investigation on the matter,” Uggah added.
Meanwhile, Baram People’s Action Committee (BPAC) chairman Philip Jau had alleged that some farmers were denied vaccination at the Long San government clinic in central Baram district.
He said that he had received numerous reports from locals in the area saying they were barred from entering the clinic when they could not produce their MyKad.
