MATU: A total of 1,320 persons received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine at the Kuala Igan Clinic Vaccination Centre (PPV) on Wednesday.

The centre which opened along with PPV Dewan Suarah Matu, caters to residents in the Igan sub-district as well as nearby areas such as Batang Igan, Sungai Ilas and Kampung Kebuaw.

Kampung Igan chief Rahmah Ras, 72, said that the people of Igan fully support the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK).

“Residents of Sungai Ilas and Kebuaw travel to the PPV by boat, crossing the Batang Igan River because it is easier.

“Some of the villagers arrived at the PPV as early as 6am so as not to miss their appointment schedule,” she commented.

Meanwhile, Nur Kartina Abdullah, 41, of Igan, said she had registered early on the MySejahtera application for a vaccination appointment and was happy when she finally received a call for the vaccine.

The PICK programme implemented at PPV Kuala Igan clinic, is also supported by all government agencies in the district, including the Mukah Division Resident Office, Mukah Division Health Department and Information Department (JaPen) to ensure that eligible residents are vaccinated against the Covid-19 pandemic.
