KUCHING: About 70 per cent of the police personnel from Kuching District Police Headquarters (IPD Kuching) will be deployed for the coming 14th General Election (GE14).

According to Kuching District Police chief ACP Abang Ahmad Abang Julai, the police exercise yesterday was part of those conducted throughout the whole country in preparation for the coming GE14. This is necessary to prevent any untoward incident for the coming pre and post GE14.

“The exercise is for today and tomorrow, and we will also be conducting it again on this coming 24 and 25 February” said Abang Ahmad.

They picked Kuching South City Council (MBKS) ground as exercise location because it would be one of the main voting centres in Kuching, said the police chief.

He told this to reporters when attending to the Kuching IPD Public Order Exercise in conjunction with the coming GE14. More than 122 police personnel from Kuching IPD were involved in the two-day exercise.
