KUCHING: Police here are on the hunt for a Covid-19 positive woman who fled from the Kolej Sains Kesihatan Bersekutu Kuching (KSKB) quarantine centre at Jalan Puncak Borneo, Padawan last Tuesday (Jul 6).

Padawan deputy police chief DSP Lim Jaw Shyong said a police team from the Padawan District Police headquarters (IPD) is being mobilised to track down the suspect who was scheduled to undergo compulsory 14-day quarantine at the centre after being released from jail.

He said the suspect was identified as Rozila Mohd Jaya, 31, from Kuching.

“The suspect had completed her three-month jail sentence for an offence under Section 15 (1) C of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and underwent a screening test on July 4 before being released.

“The screening result of the suspect was found to be positive for Covid-19 so the suspect was sent to a quarantine centre by the health office,” he said today (Jul 7).

Lim explained that the 10.50am incident happened when members in the operations room received a phone call from a medical officer who worked as a supervisor at the quarantine centre informing that the suspect had fled.
