SIBU: Only individuals who have been fully vaccinated are allowed to enter Sibu Central Market starting Aug 1, says Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) Market and Petty Traders standing committee chairman Albert Tiang.
According to him, the decision was made during the council meeting on Monday.
“Visitors must show proof of vaccination (digital vaccination certificate from the MySejahtera app or vaccination manual card).
“We only accept two types of vaccination certificates, namely a hard copy (vaccination card) or a digital certificate in the MySejahtera app. No photocopies or photo (screenshot) will be accepted,” he said, adding that the policy could be extended to other markets under SMC’s administration in the future.
He said visitors would still be required to scan the MySejahtera QR code to check in as well as have their temperature taken.
This policy, he explained, was implemented because Sibu Central Market was listed as one of the premises in the Ministry of Health’s (MoH) Hotspot Identification for Dynamic Engagement (HIDE) system.
Tiang advised individuals who have problems with their vaccination certificates to contact the MoH or the Sibu Health office.
There are about 1,119 hawkers and traders at Sibu Central Market but currently only half are allowed to operate according to the rotation system set by the SMC.
