Public library, branches reopen Aug 3

Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Miri as Pustaka Negeri Sarawak`s northern branch, it first opened its door to the public on 19 October 2002 and officially opened on 10 December 2002. Its functions are also in line with the Sarawak State Library Ordinance 1999.

MIRI: The Miri Public Library at Dewan Suarah Miri and its branches will reopen to the public starting on Tuesday (Aug 3).

Together with the local branches at Piasau, Lutong, Taman Tunku as well as in Bario, the opening of the library is solely to provide services pertaining to borrowing and returning of books.

The public libraries are opened from Monday to Friday with opening hours from 10am to 5pm daily. 

Only those general public who have been vaccinated against Covid-19 can be admitted.

The admittance is also subjected to close compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) imposed under the current Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan for Covid19 pandemic.

Children aged below 12 years old are not permitted.

Apart from having been vaccinated against Covid-19, those going to the library must strictly adhere to the SOPs such as checking in using MySejahtera;

undergoing body temperature screening before admittance; putting on facemasks at all times; observing social distancing while in the libraries; compulsory use of hand sanitisers in the library premises; observing the rules and conditions laid down by the management of the public libraries.

All public library and branches are required to display public notice boards informing the visitors on the Dos and Don’ts during their duration of visiting the premises.
