KOTA SAMARAHAN: A total of 672 applicants for 2021/2022 intake registered as pre-university students at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) on Friday (Aug 6).
Unimas vice chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi said of the total, 262 registered for Physical Science Programme, 381 in Life Science Programme and 29 in the International Science Foundation Programme (IFS).
“These pre-university students will study for two semesters or one year. Starting today (August 6), the study sessions for them are entirely online,” he said.
He was met by reporters after the students took their oath of pre-university learning at the DeTar Putra Gallery.
Mohamad Kadim hoped that by the second semester, the students would be able to come to campus and study physically.
“However, looking at the current situation, we know that there are students facing various challenges to participate in their study programme online.
“As such, we have given some flexibility based on the standard operating procedure (SOP) developed and upon the approval of the authorities.
“Unimas allows students who do not have internet access services and suitable devices to enter the campus to follow the programme online,” he explained.
