SIMANGGANG: The nearly completed Sri Aman Waterfront project is much anticipated not only by the residents but also the state.
With 85 percent of its structure erected, the project exhibits clear signs of improvement that will soon benefit the Simanggang folk.
Once complete, a new phase of socioeconomic growth will allow residents to generate and create new revenue streams.
The district assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis said that thus far, the project has progressed very well with 85 percent completion.
Taking into consideration that the waterfront consists of three sections, namely the Wharf, the Boardwalk, and Culture and Heritage Centre, he was pleased to inform that certain areas were already opened to public.
“The Wharf Section was unofficially opened so that the public can view the ongoing architectural and construction works that involve fitting the cultural motifs, traditional products, Bujang Senang replica sculptures into place, as well as the quintessential ‘I ♡ Simanggang’ monument.
“Meanwhile, for the Boardwalk section, once the Ciyun Temple road is paved, it will be the first section fully completed.
“However, in the Culture and Heritage Centre section, the installation of the roof is currently ongoing in full swing. There, a replica of the Thryssa mystax (Ikan Bulu) — a product of Sungai Batang Lupar — will be erected,” he explained.
He said this during his work visit at the new waterfront on Friday (Aug 6).
“We must be grateful to the State Government for fulfilling the aspirations of the people and for their commitment in transforming the development landscape in each sector, respectively.
“The large allocation provided can be manipulated into a platform to generate income for the residents here.
“Hence, I wish to remind the Council Members involved in the efforts to promote the beauty of the banks of Sungai Batang Lupar to work together in ensuring a waterfront that is always clean, safe and crime-free” he added.
Also present during the visit was Sri Aman District Council (MDSA) mayor Anthony Abell Chendan, MDSA Mayor, MDSA Secretary Tay Guan Huat, Bumi Consultant and Service Sdn Bhd Consortium Ar David Keen Hollis, and Mexajati Sdn Bhd Wong Chung Ming.
