KUCHING: Residents in Kuching South City Council (MBKS) areas are encouraged to get vaccinated through its mobile vaccination programme.
Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said those from outside MBKS areas could also get the vaccines.
“The mobile vaccination programme is not limited to residents in MBKS areas or from other areas.
“If people from Sibu or Miri who are in Kuching right now and have yet to be vaccinated, they can get the vaccines too.”
He spoke to the media at the mobile vaccination programme at a basketball court in Sungai Apong here on Wednesday (Aug 11).
“Foreigners can get their vaccines too, provided that they bring their passports along.
“Even if the passports have expired, they can get vaccinated.
“I know that with the implementation of the movement control order and other restrictions, it’s difficult for them to renew their passports.”
He added that residents who have mobility problems or are disabled would be assisted by doctors and nurses, and they could receive their vaccines from their vehicles.
The vaccination programme in Sungai Apong targeted to vaccinate around 150 people from 8am to 1pm.
The programme was held with the assistance of doctors, nurses and health officers from Tanah Puteh Health Clinic, Pending as well as volunteers.
“I also would like to thank Biaramas for providing us with a bus for doctors and nurses to perform the vaccination, and it is free of charge.
“Not to forget also the community development and security committees for assisting us, going around to houses to ask residents if they have been vaccinated or not.”
The mobile vaccination programme started last week and would continue until the end of the month.
