KUCHING: The Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) located in the Community Hall of Kuching South City Council (MBKS) has moved its operations to Stadium Perpaduan, Petra Jaya effective Aug 28.
Kuching Division Health Office, in a notice on Facebook, said that the centre was for positive cases only.
The operation hours are from 9am to 5pm on Monday to Friday and from 8am to 1pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Covid-19 Screening Service (for sample taking, swab, issuance of quarantine order or release order) will continue as usual at the MBKS Community Hall.
The screening service will be from 9am to 5pm on Monday to Friday, and from 9am to 12pm on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.
Meanwhile, Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) advisor, Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian, in a Facebook post said that the vaccination centre (PPV) at Stadium Perpaduan was now closed.
He said the PPV had successfully administered more than 250,000 Covid-19 vaccine doses after six months of daily operations.
“No words can acknowledge and recognise the extraordinary efforts of multi-agencies coming together to get the job done and to save lives in our spirit of solidarity in our united war efforts against Covid-19,” he said.
Dr Sim added with the closure of the PPV in Stadium Perpaduan, the CAC had been relocated from MBKS’s Community Hall to the stadium to decongest the traffic in view of the surge in the number of cases.
“As the PPV in Stadium Perpaduan has been closed, the main walk-in PPV for Kuching is now at PPV Majma Mall,” he said.
Dr Sim urged those who were eligible and had not been inoculated yet to call the nearest health clinic for appointments.
“Vaccination saves lives. Without vaccination, once you are infected, it is more severe and increases the chances of death.
“Please allow us to help you and to protect your family and the local community,” said Dr Sim.
