KUCHING: Hope Place Kuching has come forward to assist an elderly woman who lives alone in KMC flat at Ban Hock Road here.

The non-governmental organisation is providing Jong Siew Moi, 75,  basic food every three months.

Jong, who is an OKU disability card holder shared that during the movement control order (MCO) in June this year, she had to limp all the way to Padungan to grab free food from hawker booths.

She also told Hope Place about her 49-year-old mentally challenged son who was a patient at Sentosa Hospital but went missing after discharge and died two weeks ago.

Jong also receives RM500 monthly aid from the Social Welfare Department (JKM).

Hope Place or Persatuan Kebajikan Harapan Kuching can be reached at 082-505987. Opening hours are from 8am to 5pm from Mondays to Fridays, and 8am to 12pm on Saturdays.

The public can make donations to its bank account MBB: 511289001160 or acquire the Sarawak Pay QR code by visiting the NGO’s Facebook page. Receipts will be provided upon request.
