KUCHING: Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah received a courtesy call from the Sarawak Hearing and Aural Rehabilitation Society (Sarawak HEAR) at her office today (Sept 3).
The courtesy call was to update her on future plans for those with hearing impairment in the state, especially among babies and young children.
Sarawak HEAR is a non-government organisation (NGO) which was established in June 2016 and is the only society devoted to supporting the hearing impaired people and their families.
“Our society is dedicated to collaboratively with various organisations including government and non-government bodies to raise hearing health awareness as well as to help these hearing-impaired people to be able to hear and communicate verbally.
“We also comprise dedicated professionals such as ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialists, audiologists, speech-language pathologists, medical doctors, teachers, and dedicated parents,” it explained.
Also present was ENT surgeon/specialist and Sarawak HEAR president Prof Dr Tang Ing Ping and vice president Alexander Stephen.
