KAPIT: A motorist died on the spot while two others suffered injuries in a crash involving two four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicles near Rumah Nyikau, Jalan Kapit-Song last Thursday.
Kapit fire chief Erwandy Tugor said the victim was identified as a 58-year-old surveyor, Empati Bujai, who was trapped in his seat and died due to severe head and internal injuries.
The fire station received an emergency call pertaining to the incident around 6.10pm and despatched eight firemen to the scene
“Upon arriving, the team found that two vehicles had collided and one of them had two men trapped in their seats.
“The team proceeded stabilse the vehicle before cutting open the door with a hydraulic power cutter,” he said.
Erwandy noted that both victims were successfully extricated, however, one of them was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from Kapit Hospital.
The other victim and the driver of the other vehicle were rushed to the hospital for further treatment.
The deceased’s body was handed over to the police for further action.
