KUCHING: A total of 454 errant individuals were compounded for violating the standard operating procedures (SOPs) from Aug 1 to 30 this year.

Kuching police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah said that the compounds valued at RM820,500, were issued under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342).

Aside from that, three business premises in the district were also issued compounds with a total value of RM30,000.

He added that his men also compounded 15 individuals working in business premises or factories that violate the SOPs, with the compound value at RM36,500.

“Meanwhile, on inter-district travel purposes, the Kuching police headquarters (IPD) have received 13,043 applications from Aug 1 to 30.

“Of the figure, 10,790 applications, equivalent to 96 percent, were approved whereas, the remaining four percent were rejected,” he said.

Ahsmon also added that in the same period, his men have inspected a total of 335,353 individuals from 273,025 vehicles.

From the number, the police ordered 265 vehicles to turn back as they do not have sufficient documents.

He assured that Kuching police remain committed to ensure that the public fully complied with the SOPs to curb the Covid-19 transmission chain.
