SIBU: The vaccination programme for teenagers aged 18 and below at the Dewan Suarah vaccination centre (PPV) on Thursday (Sept 9) was smooth.
The programme, which kicked off on Wednesday, will involve a total of 9,289 students aged 16 and 17.
“No teenagers will be left behind as this programme focuses on 16 and 17-year-olds who are eligible to receive the vaccine shots,” said James Badi, head of the programme.
“In addition, we will hold a walk-in vaccination this Sunday especially for those who are no longer in school or whose names have dropped out of the name list given by the school.”
James also reminded the students to be accompanied by their parents or guardians, and to bring along their identity cards as well as medical cards if any.
Meanwhile, a vaccine recipient Asvelyca Anthony, 17, said she now felt less worried about the Covid-19 infection, having had her first dose.
She added: “However, we must continue to practise SOP despite being vaccinated.”
Dewan Suarah is one of the PPVs for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NCIP) apart from Dewan Serbaguna Sibu Jaya and Dewan Pejabat Daerah Kanowit.
There are also mobile PPVs from Sibu Health Office and Selangau Health Office to SMK Ulu Balingian.
