KUCHING: The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) clarified that an individual’s application to enter the state was rejected four times because the applicant did not provide the required documents.
In a statement on Tuesday (Sept 14), the committee said the said individual posted a complaint on social media lamenting that his application to enter Sarawak from Semenanjung Malaysia was rejected four times by SDMC.
Following that, the committee said it had conducted an in-depth internal investigation to solve the issue and identified the person’s real identity.
“The individual’s application was rejected because he didn’t submit the necessary documents to support his applications.
“Instead of using the RT-PCR (reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction) as stipulated clearly in the entry to Sarawak SOP (standard operating procedure), the person attached and submitted the same RTK-Antigen (antigen rapid test kit) result with his four applications,” it said.
SDMC added the person had submitted his applications on Sept 8, 9, 10 and 11, attaching the same RTK test result, and as such SDMC has no choice but to reject all his applications.
“The committee has his full personal details and his voice recording admitting to his mistakes during the investigation.
“SDMC regrets that this individual has deliberately twisted his story to purposely tarnish SDMC’s image and misled the public.”
The committee, thus, reminded that one of the conditions to apply to enter Sarawak is to have the RT-PCR test results within 72 hours of travel.
“SDMC advised the public that they must comply to the conditions as mentioned in any SOP and not to blame SDMC when they make mistakes,” it said.
