MUKAH: Some street lights at a road leading to Kampung Petanak Daya here have not been operating for a couple of months.

The authorities are therefore urged to do something about the matter.

New Sarawak Tribune on Thursday (Sept 23) discovered that there were 13 street lights along the road, which stretched from Mara Junior Science College to Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Agama (Majlis Islam Sarawak).

A few multi-storey federal government quarters are also located on the other side of the road.

Motorists, especially owners of two-wheeled vehicles, were grumbling over the many ‘dead’ street lights along the approximately 200m stretch.

A motorcyclist, who preferred anonymity, said more than half of the street lights along the road have not been operating for a couple of months.

He added that the area near SK Agama is really dark thus posing a danger to motorists. “I urge the authorities to do something about the matter.”
