KUCHING: Kuching City South Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng was at Klinik Kesihatan Jalan Masjid here after receiving word that its medication storage caught fire on Sunday (Oct 3).

“I would like to thank Padungan Bomba (Fire and Rescue Department) for their quick response in preventing the fire from spreading to the other nearby buildings.

“Unfortunately, the medication supplies in the storage were destroyed when the firefighters finally extinguished the fire,” he said on Sunday.

Wee reminded everyone to be vigilant and have the necessary fire safety and prevention knowledge to prevent further property loss in future.

“Do seek help and assistance from Bomba if you have any questions.”

In addition, residents and businesses were also reminded not to obstruct or tamper with fire hydrants.

“Illegally impeding, blocking, hiding or covering fire hydrants is considered a violation of law as this will severely impede the rescue effort by Bomba.

“Bomba and MBKS will soon conduct a series of inspections, and those who have been tampering with fire hydrants in residences or business areas will face the consequences.”
