Covid-19 claims more lives, all deceased with comorbidities

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 13 Covid-19 deaths on Wednesday (Oct 13), mostly comprising those between the ages of 40 and 80, and who have comorbid diseases.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the deaths occurred on Oct 4, and between Oct 10 and 12. No brought-in-dead (BID) cases were recorded on Wednesday.

“The youngest fatality was a 42-year-old man from Miri who passed away at Miri Hospital on Oct 12.

“Meanwhile, the oldest fatality was a 70-year-old woman, also from Miri, who passed away at Miri Hospital on Oct 11.”

All the deceased had ailments such as high blood pressure, diabetes, dyslipidemia, heart disease, chronic kidney disease, chronic obstructive lung disease, stroke and obesity.

In another matter, SDMC also decided to impose enhanced movement control order (EMCO) in four localities.

EMCO starts from Oct 13 until Oct 22 for Rumah Suting, Punggu Dadak in Sri Aman, Rumah Francis, Lidong, Skrang in Lubok Antu and Rumah Bansa, Sungai Selangan in Sarikei.

For Rumah Intai, Menuang in Limbang District, it is from Oct 14 to Oct 23.

EMCO in four localities in the districts of Betong and Matu have ended.

“In Betong, Rumah Baba Owin in Pasa Baroh, Rumah Roy in Tembawai Lubok and Rumah Mubok in Tanjung Paoh ended EMCO today (Wednesday).

“Apart from that, Ladang Senandung Masyhur Sdn Bhd, Jalan Matu-Igan in Matu will end EMCO on Thursday (Oct 14).”

Meanwhile, Rumah Ruekeith Jampong, Langkang Ili, Engkilili in Lubok Antu will have its EMCO extended from Oct 13 to Oct 16.
