KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia recorded a drop in the number of new Covid-19 cases with 7,420 cases as of noon today compared to 8,084 yesterday, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Dr Noor Hisham in a statement on the development of the country’s Covid-19 situation said of the new cases reported, 108 cases or 1.5 per cent were in Categories Three, Four and Five while 7,312 cases or 98.5 per cent were in Categories One and Two with none and minor symptoms respectively.

Category Three refers to patients with pneumonia, Category Four as requiring oxygen and Category Five as needing ventilator assistance.

He said recovered cases stood at 11,413, surpassing the number of new cases reported.

He said a total of 635 confirmed Covid-19 cases are being treated at the intensive care units (ICU) of which 282 cases requiring respiratory support.

Dr Noor Hisham also disclosed that 13 new clusters were detected involving nine workplace clusters, three community clusters and one education cluster. – Bernama
