SARIKEI: Repok assemblyman Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii has suggested plans to develop Sarikei Health Clinic in order to provide better healthcare facilities to its patients.
This followed his discussion with the Sarikei Division Health Office.
Huang said the number of patients at Sarikei Health Clinic was increasing and the clinic was facing an issue with insufficient space.
“The space is limited and patients, especially the elderly, have to wait a long time to receive treatment,” he said.
In addition, he pointed out that the clinic did not have adequate and complete parking facilities for patients.
“As a result, some patients have to park their vehicles on the shoulder of the road at Jalan Hospital, causing traffic congestion,” he said.
He said this in a statement yesterday (Oct 16) following his recent visit to the clinic to receive the Covid-19 booster dose, accompanied by Sarikei Division Health Officer Dr Emmanuel Joseph Fong Tsung.
“With the completion of the project from Sarikei to Tanjung Manis, the medical equipment and supplies at the Sarikei Health Clinic will certainly not be sufficient to accommodate the number of patients hailing not only from Sarikei but also its surrounding areas,” he added.
Therefore, Huang said Sarikei Health Clinic and Sarikei Hospital should have long-term plans to improve their healthcare facilities so that patients would be able to receive better medical treatment.
