KUCHING: The general public are now at ease knowing that police permit is no longer needed for inter-district travel.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee announced the lifting of inter-district travel restrictions on Oct 6.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail said since the decision was made, the police did not receive any reports from the public on inter-district travel requirements.

“Based on our observation, Sarawakians have welcomed the decision and are satisfied with it.

“This is because they no longer have to apply for police permits, which some consider to be inconvenient and time consuming. They can finally resume their activities that have been put on hold for so long,” he said when asked on the matter today (Oct 18).

The public are also reminded to complete two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine before taking part in any activity or travelling.

Aidi also encouraged the public not to carry out visiting activities.
