Three BID cases among 15 deaths

KUCHING: Sarawak today (Oct 20) recorded 15 Covid-19 deaths including three brought-in-dead (BID) cases.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its daily update statement, said the death occurred on Oct 11, Oct 12 and between Oct 16 and Oct 19.

“On Oct 11, one Covid-19 death was recorded in Sibu, involving a 68-year-old man who passed away at the Sibu Hospital.

“He had a history of high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease and final stage kidney disease,” it said.

On Oct 12, also in Sibu Division, there were two BID cases involving a 78-year-old woman and a 69-year-old man.

Both passed away and their remains were brought to the Sibu Hospital. The woman had diabetes while the man had high blood pressure and diabetes.

Between Oct 16 and Oct 19, there was one BID case involving an 86-year-old woman in Kuching. 

“The body of the woman was brought to the Bau Hospital. She had blood pressure, dyslipidemia and chronic kidney disease.

“On Oct 18, in Kuching, there were two deaths involving an 82-year-old man and an 80-year-old man.

“Both men passed away at the Sarawak General Hospital. The 82-year-old man had high blood pressure, diabetes, dyslipidemia and stroke while the 80-year-old man had high blood pressure, diabetes and chronic kidney disease,” said the committee.

The SDMC added that the youngest death involved a 46-year-old man from Kuching who passed away at the Miri Hospital. He had high blood pressure and diabetes.

The committee also announced that the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) had been enforced at Rumah Segan, Mile 16, Jalan Engkamop in Julau from Wednesday (Oct 20) to Oct 29.

Meanwhile, the EMCO had ended at eight localities in Limbang, Sarikei, Pakan, Julau and Saratok.

The committee said the EMCO ended at Rumah Sondai, Kampung Terimah Lubai in Limbang, Rumah Jully, Sungai Jagit Sare in Sarikei, Rumah Budum, Tubai Buah in Pakan and Rumah Jawang, Bukit Seri Entaih in Julau today (Oct 20).

“For Rumah Pae at Kerangan Abau Meluan, Rumah Endawie at Nanga Selaut and Rumah Kampit at Nanga Sangkong in Julau and Rumah Jantai, Lubok Nibong in Saratok, the EMCO will end tomorrow (Oct 21),” it said.
