KUCHING: The Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) will allocate RM2 million next year to fund services related to mobile toilets, iron fencing, garbage collection and public sanitisation works in efforts to combat Covid-19.

Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Islamic Affairs and DBKU) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said the city hall spent RM1.9 million for these services this year.

“It is hoped that these services will ease the burden of the Sarawak government in terms of logistics in Covid-19 transmission areas,” he said at a press conference at DBKU Headquarters on Thursday (Oct 21).

The assistant minister explained that DBKU also helped in controlling the spread of Covid-19 by enforcing and monitoring compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) at business premises.

He said DBKU was also involved in active case detection (ACD) operations involving screening in targeted areas, apart from providing services at vaccination centres, Covid-19 screening centres, areas subjected to the enhanced movement control order (EMCO), roadblocks and field hospitals.
