MIRI: A total of 154 persons received state awards from the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud during an investiture ceremony held at Mega Hotel here today (Oct 27).
Leading the group of recipients were the director of Sewerage Services Department Datuk Lau Hieng Ung who received the Darjah Jasa Bakti Sarawak (DJBS) with the title ‘Datu’ and Human Rights Commission (Suhakam) Sarawak commissioner Datuk Dr Madeline Berma who received the Panglima Setia Bintang Sarawak (PSBS) award with the title ‘Dato’.
There were seven recipients of the Pegawai Bintang Sarawak (PBS) led by Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Women chief Cr Kho Teck Wan while ten others received the Pegawai Bintang Kenyalang (PBK) award.
Nine persons received the Pingat Perkhidmatan Bakti (PPB) (Silver) award, 31 others the Ahli Bintang Sarawak (ABS); 21 received the Ahli Bintang Kenyalang (ABK) and 50 persons received the Bentara Bintang Sarawak (B.B.S) award.
Twenty-four civil servants also received the Pingat Perkhidmatan Terpuji (PPT) (Bronze) award.
Among those present during the ceremony were Taib’s wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Ragad Kurdi Taib; Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin; Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development Assistant Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail; Women, Family and Childhood Development Assistant Minister Datuk Rosey Yunus and State Secretary Datuk Amar Jaul Samion.
