KUCHING: If you have been toying with an idea you are convinced will benefit the community at large, non-governmental organisation The Sarawak Initiatives (TSI) wants to hear from you.

It has drawn up plans to help young aspiring leaders to bring such ideas to fruition through its leadership programme.

“We will provide the necessary guidance and assistance, as part of our 10-step programme on grooming future leaders who can make a positive impact on society through community-based development projects,” it said in a statement on Tuesday (Nov 9).

According to it, TSI had attracted some 500 aspiring youth leaders to its leadership programme, since the first conference in July.

“With the enthusiasm expressed by aspiring leaders, we would like to move another step forward to provide a more comprehensive hands-on leadership programme for them to embark on a personal development exercise.

“Each week, we select and invite 15 participants for a small group online discussion via Zoom. Each 90-minute session focuses on its core topic ‘Aspiring Leaders and Great Leadership’.

“We have conducted three sessions and provide opportunities to participants to gain knowledge and leadership skills. We look to the experienced participants, together with TSI, to provide the necessary support to them. TSI provides the platform for their personal leadership development,” it added.

TSI said that attending the lectures was the first step in its leadership programme, while the more intimate, comprehensive Zoom discussion was the second.

“We will not just stop here, so we wish to take the third step with you and ask for your vision and aspirations that you wish to put into action.

“We are happy to make your dreams come true by putting a team together to help organise the event of your choice, be it  on welfare, charity, culture, environment, arts, music, debate, story-telling, changing mindset or whatever, as long as it will have a positive impact on our community.

“We would therefore like to hear your proposal and would like to arrange a Zoom discussion with you together with our committee members when you are ready,” it said.
