KUCHING: Prime Minister’s Special Envoy to China Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing has raised several recommendations for improving the application conditions of Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme to clarify the various categories involved.
He made the recommendations when paying a courtesy call on Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on Friday (Nov 19) to discuss the MM2H programme.
“Due to the fact that Sarawak enjoys a certain degree of autonomy in formulating the conditions of the MM2H programme, much can be done to attract more foreign applicants to consider Sarawak as a destination for retirement and to inject foreign investment to establish factories, as well as create more jobs and economic stimuli.
“To do this, it is necessary to introduce more people-friendly, inclusive and competitive second home application conditions,” said Tiong, who is also chairman of the Malaysia-China Business Council.
In a Facebook post on Saturday (Nov 20), he said the various departments involved will further discuss this matter to ensure that Sarawak’s economic recovery is expedited by providing more convenience to foreign applications.
He said this would, at the same time, benefit Sarawak’s income and achieve a win-win situation.
