KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Kuching Branch has called on voters to pick the right candidates so that their voices are heard.
In its statement today (Nov 23), the branch said it had continued to serve tirelessly and firmly believed that with its long-term service records and persistence in voicing out for the people, it would eventually be accepted once again by the voters despite being defeated in the Padungan state constituency for three consecutive terms.
“As the Covid-19 pandemic has hit the global economy hard and impacted the livelihoods of many, there is a widespread political apathy among the electorates.
“Hence, there is a necessity to do away with the political sweet-talkers with empty promises and choose seat aspirants who can walk the talk and bring real change,” it said.
The branch also pointed out that racial and religious bigotry provoked by irresponsible politicians had become very rampant in Malaya.
“Those acts have not only led to human rights violations but also unscrupulously caused tensions and worries among the people.
“Having said that, electorates should make their voices heard by voting for the right candidates. It is not enough to just want change, we have to go and make change by voting for the right person,” it stressed.
With the 12th state election just round the corner, the branch launched its election machinery yesterday (Nov 22), and put up banners near its office premises at Jalan Sg Padungan.
