KUCHING: Heineken Malaysia partnered with Hope Place Kuching through the Heineken Cares programme to help needy communities during the Covid-19 pandemic in Sarawak.

Through the Heineken Cares programme, the non-government organisation (NGO) has reached out to more than 200 families comprising single parents, abandoned elders, B40 individuals as well as persons with disabilities to supply grocery items and special need items.

Hope Place’s operations supervisor Yong Tion Yieng said,“Taking part in the Heineken Cares programme is a big step for us to achieve our goal in helping the under privileged, especially during the pandemic.

“Therefore, we would like to give our utmost thanks and appreciation to Heineken Malaysia for their sponsorship and support to our organisation.”

Heineken Malaysia Berhad has been distributing meals to communities affected by Covid-19 pandemic through its Heineken’s Cares programme.

Since the programme’s launch on July 26 this year, more than 94,000 meals have been distributed to over 7300 beneficiaries as of Oct 31.

The ultimate goal of the programme is to provide 150,000 meals by the end of the year to communities affected by job or income loss as a result of the pandemic.
