KUCHING: A new wing for those aged 18-28 will help Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) reach out to the young.
Calling it a strategic move, the party’s vice president Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said this would also make PBB more relevant in the present political climate.
He said the implementation of Undi18 which would see the participation of young people in the electoral process
was in line with PBB’s leadership talent grooming and development agenda.
“PBB under the leadership of our Chief Minister had already planned the setting up of the new wing as the way forward in addressing the needs and concerns of young folks in the 18 to 28 age group,” he said.
He said the new wing augured well with providing opportunities for youths to be politically mature in deciding their future.
“Such move is also timely because it is important for us to ensure our future generation of politicians and leaders keep up with the latest political developments in Sarawak and in the country.
“Hence, PBB is making the necessary steps right now in order to stay relevant among all strata of society including different age groups,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Jan 12).
He added that setting up the new wing may also be advantageous in the15th General Election (GE15) which will be held in 2023 or earlier.
