KUCHING: A two-day single digit Covid-19 case streak in Sarawak ended after 16 new cases were recorded on Tuesday (Jan 18), bringing the total number of cases to 252,625.
In its daily update the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said all of the cases were Categories 1 and 2.
“Sibu recorded the most with six cases, followed by Kuching with three cases and two cases in Lawas.
“Meanwhile, one case each was recorded in Miri, Sri Aman, Kota Samarahan, Bau and Tanjung Manis,” the committee said.
No new fatality or clusters were reported in the daily update.
SDMC added that there were 138 new persons under surveillance and 637 of them were currently quarantined at designated hotels.
The committee also stated that the total number of persons under surveillance who had been discharged stood at 164,263.
In terms of non-compliance to the standard operating procedures (SOPs), Kuching police had issued a total of 12 compound notices to errant individuals.
Eight of them failed to scan the MySejahtera before entering a premises, three did not wear face masks in public and one of them failed to practice physical distancing.
This brings the total number of compounds issued by Sarawak police to 12,954.
