SAMARAHAN: A collision between two motorcycles claimed the life of an elderly man here on Wednesday (Jan 19).
The victim, aged 62, was riding his machine towards Simunjan from Sadong Jaya when he was rammed from behind by another motorcycle.
Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, who confirmed the accident, said it happened at Jalan Sungai Buloh Off KM37 at 8.30pm.
He said the impact of the collision threw the victim off his motorcycle to the left side of the road, adding that the man was not wearing a helmet which explained his serious head injury.
“The elderly man was confirmed dead at the scene, while the rider of the other motorcycle suffered multiple injuries and was sent to the Sadong Jaya Health Clinic by the Civil Defence Force (APM) for treatment,” said Alex.
The accident is under investigation and is investigated under the Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
