BINTULU: A motorcyclist died after colliding with a four-wheel-drive vehicle, while his pillion rider suffered serious injuries.
State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the incident happened at about 6.20pm on Friday.
“This happened at Jalan Kidurong, at a junction to Columbia Asia Hospital, involving a four-wheel drive vehicle and a motorbike.
“The driver of the vehicle was on the way from Jalan Nyabau towards RPR Kidurong. Upon reaching the junction to the hospital, the driver was turning to the left into the junction to the hospital when a motorbike suddenly appeared on the left side of the vehicle and collided with the 4WD vehicle,” Alexson explained in a statement on Saturday (Jan 22).
Both the rider and his pillion were sent to Bintulu Hospital by ambulances, however, the motorcyclist passed away while being treated in the emergency ward.
Alexson also said the pillion rider suffered a broken femur and right leg.
The case is investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
