MIRI: The shortage of chicken eggs here will soon be resolved with the arrival of supplies from Kuching.

The first batch, totalling 144,000 eggs, arrived in Miri early Wednesday (Jan 26), disclosed Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) Miri head Joe Azmi Jamil.

“Another 156,000 eggs are scheduled to reach Miri on Thursday (Jan 27).”

For the past few weeks, Mirians had been complaining about the shortage.

On Wednesday, during a meeting with pig farm and pork seller representatives, state Transport Minister and Miri Division Disaster Management Committee minister in-charge Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin assured that the shortage would be taken care of immediately.

“I’ve instructed Miri KPDNHEP to check all supplies … most of our (chicken egg) suppliers are from the southern part and this shortage happened because of high demand due to the coming festive season,” Lee said.
